In November, we joined the City of Somerville in celebrating the Ribbon Cutting of the renovated, expanded Somerville Junction Park! This site began as a place of connection in 1870 when the Boston & Lowell Railroad extended to the Fitchburg Railroad at Somerville Junction.
Today it is transformed into a vibrant park along the Community Path, connecting neighbors to commuters and urban explorers. Park visitors can rest in the shade of 90 newly planted native trees, picnic in the plaza at Central Street, pitch hammocks in the hammock grove, enjoy seasonal color among thousands of pollinator plants, and relax on chaise lounges or amphitheater seating while watching the trains go by.
Thank you to all who came out to celebrate this awesome accomplishment for the City of Somerville and we hope to see you there soon!
