Jean-Paul Charboneau
Associate Principal
JP grew up overseas, immersed in foreign languages and cultures; he is a lifelong wanderer and explorer. Because of these experiences he is interested in joyfully telling stories and clarifying what is misunderstood or unappreciated. He enjoys how the design and craft of landscapes can improve the way we live and inhabit spaces.
JP received his undergraduate degree in East Asian studies and film from Vassar College and worked as a project manager and film editor in New York. He gradually discovered the field of Landscape Architecture while attending the Boston Architectural College and working as a land surveyor. He transferred to the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University where he received his Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture. Upon graduating, he was awarded the Norman T. Newton Prize and the Certificate of Merit from the American Society of Landscape Architects, and was an instructor in the Career Discovery summer program. He has been a guest critic at Boston Architectural College, University of Virginia, and Rhode Island School of Design. JP joined Crowley Cottrell in 2018 after nine years at Reed Hilderbrand, where he managed both residential and institutional projects.
