Community Impact: Drake Village

One of the most rewarding parts of our job is getting to see a community embrace a new outdoor space. Last fall, residents at the Drake Village senior housing complex in Arlington worked with curator @ceciliachile and artist @davidfichtermurals to create a series of paintings and mosaics for the brick facade adjacent to the new terrace and garden.

The art installation was part of a statewide housing authority placemaking grant. As part of the design process, residents attended two months of art-making workshops alongside a group of Arlington High School students. It has been inspiring to see the pride that the residents have for their work, and how they embraced the new outdoor spaces and the experience of working together. We are so fortunate to have shared in the joy of this project with the residents, artists, all the hard-working facility and administrative folks at Arlington Housing Authority.
