West Stockbridge Residence

wooden bridge leading to rustic stone steps through ground cover.

West Stockbridge, MA

This 15 acres property nestled in a steep, rocky hillside required a sophisticated grading strategy to circulate around the main house, guest cabin and surrounding woodland. A variety of path networks were utilized to capture the views and create intimate moments within the landscape.  Bluestone steps through an allée of columnar beech trees; a walking bridge from the second story of the main house to goshen stone steps through a birch tree grove; pathway steps to a greenhouse and family memorial; vehicular access through the woods to the guest cabin with a field stone fire pit created from surrounding ledge.
