Brandeis House

House surrounded by trees with steps leading up a slope to the terrace.

Newton, MA

The historic Brandeis House was built in 1914 for Leland Powers, a performing arts educator. The house was later home to two presidents of Brandeis University. The design scope included gardens and terraces for gathering, and creating circulation around the entire house. Set on a steep hill, the home was formerly difficult to reach and its landscapes hard to inhabit.
