CONCORD ACADEMY
Arlington, MA
Located in Arlington Center, Whittemore Park contains the historic Jefferson Cutter House, as well as a remnant stretch of the Boston & Maine Railroad, lined by a dense, overmature tree canopy. Crowley Cottrell worked with Bartlett Tree Experts to evaluate the trees on site and prepare a plan for editing the existing canopy and planting the next generation. The plan also highlights the site’s layered history, while providing accessibility and enhancing opportunities for gatherings and community events. The plan was informed by a thorough community engagement process, including public forums, drop-in style open houses, and full-scale site mock-ups.
