Somerville, MA

 

217 Somerville Avenue Pocket Park is a15- acre site in a densely developed Environmental Justice neighborhood. Crowley Cottrell led a multifaceted community engagement process to identify residents’ priorities. The resulting design includes expanded streetscapes and shade tree canopy and creates a series of universally accessible outdoor rooms to appeal to users of all ages and abilities. Each room has a patterned “carpet” of permeable pavers and include: the Front Porch with interactive water feature; the Dining Room with picnic and game tables, and the Living  Room with lounge furniture.
