We developed a site plan for the College of Computer Science complex, advancing UMass Amherst’s goal of sustainable, connected growth. The landscape design links new and existing buildings through clear pedestrian circulation and inclusive, ADA-compliant routes while integrating rain gardens, robust tree and pollinator plantings, and a reduced-mow maintenance typology. Creative grading and precast bridge solutions resolve steep topography to maintain accessibility and stormwater function. Designed for both everyday use and major campus events, the landscape offers plazas, seating areas, and a reinforced event lawn that supports commencement and outdoor gatherings.
