Junction Park
City of Somerville
Somerville Junction Park is a renovation of a 1.5-acre site at the location of a historic 1870s railroad station. A robust community engagement process identified priorities for the park and its connection to the new regional Community Path that runs through the site. The resulting design creates an inviting, passive park with a shaded plaza and ample seating, looping accessible paths through perennial and woodland gardens, a generous lawn with lounge seating, and multiple overlooks with views down the adjacent rail corridor. Plant species were selected to maximize year-round habitat for pollinators, and a variety of site furnishings support both long neighborhood visits and brief stops for shade and water along the path.
