At Drake Village, a senior housing community in Arlington, the landscape design creates a shared outdoor space anchored by a new terrace and garden. Artwork activates the brick façade adjacent to the terrace, integrating art and landscape as part of a cohesive experience. This collaboration was made possible through a statewide placemaking grant. Curator Cecilia Chile and artist David Fichter led a two-month series of workshops that brought residents together with Arlington High School students to create the installations. The result is a landscape shaped as much by process as by design—an outdoor space that reflects the community, supports daily use, and fosters a strong sense of ownership and pride among residents.
