Peach Hill Park
Friends of Peach Hill Park
The Friends of Peach Hill Park, a local coalition, helped acquire this 160-acre former orchard, preserving it for public use. The parcel features 3.2 miles of trails and the highest point in the town of Poughkeepsie, offering panoramic views of the Hudson River Valley, Hudson Highlands, and the Catskill Mountains. However, when site-wide, active management ceased, invasive vines began overtaking much of the apple trees, resulting in narrowed trails and restricted views. The Friends engaged our team at Crowley Cottrell to envision a new future for the park, guided by objectives that identify how and where to preserve apple trees, highlight existing habitat, enhance biodiversity and panoramic views, and prioritize ongoing park maintenance. Our resulting master plan illustrates these objectives and provides a document for future fundraising.
