Whittemore Park
Town of Arlington
Located in Arlington Center, Whittemore Park contains the historic Jefferson Cutter House, as well as a remnant stretch of the Boston & Maine Railroad, lined by a dense, overmature tree canopy. At Crowley Cottrell, we worked with an arborist to evaluate the trees on site and prepare a plan for editing the existing canopy and planting the next generation. The plan also highlights the site’s layered history, while providing accessibility and enhancing opportunities for gatherings and community events. The plan was informed through an exhaustive community engagement process that included public forums, drop-in style open houses, and full-scale site mock-ups.
