This landscape design is inspired by the Indian principles of Vastu Shastra, which divide a home into quadrants corresponding to the four elements: earth, fire, air, and water. Each element relates to specific colors, shapes, textures, and types of activities. Our team at Crowley Cottrell worked closely with the architect and clients to translate these principles into a cohesive design for this New England house and landscape. Our design uses planting, walls, terraces, and earthwork to create a distinct character for each quadrant.
