Mary Jane Lee Park is an important outdoor space that serves the dense urban neighborhood of Salem. Our design reduces asphalt and increases green space in the park, while adding new areas for active recreation. Defined zones allow for a range of activities within the park, from small children’s play areas and basketball for youth, to open green space and a picnic pavilion for families. The splash pad along Palmer Street creates a new signature feature that encourages active play through a colorful patterned surface and interactive water features. During the off-season, this space becomes a community terrace.
