For Concord Academy’s Labs Building, we designed a welcoming new entry terrace and reshaped the adjacent quad to strengthen campus connections and daily student life. A brick plaza framed by a stone seat wall and new tree plantings creates a clear, refined threshold to the building. Beyond the entry, the main quad was regraded and replanted to improve accessibility and gathering opportunities, with new lighting and flexible spaces that support both informal use and group events. An outdoor classroom, green roof, and rain garden extend learning outdoors, integrating natural systems into the curriculum.
