Our design for Norwich University’s 5-acre Memorial Plaza improved circulation across the campus’s steep Vermont terrain while creating fully accessible connections between three core academic buildings—without the use of ramps. A carefully choreographed path network navigates more than 20 feet of grade change and moves through a new allée of native Vermont trees, linking the historic Upper Parade grounds to the iconic White Chapel. The plaza provides a prominent gathering space in front of Webb Hall and features the relocated Harmon Memorial—a statue and commemorative wall honoring distinguished alumni—positioned as the focal point of the space.
